Evaluation
1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?
Our music video both challenges and conforms to the conventions of media products. First of all, we decided to cast a male and female for the roles of the couple which complies with modern media conventions as it is a presentation of a straight couple stereotype. In addition to this, we decided to create a more realistic relationship by challenging conventions of the use of couples in media products, showing that it is not always perfect and exciting, we wanted to represent the way in which a relationship is like a roller coaster- a mix of good and bad. We reflected these emotions through the use older actors- showing that they have stuck together through it all and that things never stop.
2) How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary text (CD cover)?
I think that the CD cover is an effective reflection of the story and narrative in our music video for a variety of reasons. First of all, the relationship is an accurate representation of a typical male/female relationship and the random, sporadic design and colours reflect this. We decided not to use photographs or digital design as it has been done before so we experimented with a dye called brusho which created the irregular flow of colour. It is also a reflection of the moods and emotions from both parts of the relationship.
3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The majority of feedback that we received was positive however some was also extremely useful. For example, we used an older couple as well as the younger couple to show the age gap and the journey of the relationship, changes etc. However we had not thought of changing the costume and the props to make the older couple seem realistically existing 50 years before. It seemed to one student that they were in fact an old couple living at the same time however just showing the difference between young and old love. One of the main aims of the idea was to try and make it seem like they were the same couple, using the same setting for example and asking them to do the same kind of things/ pull similar facial expressions. If we were to do the filming again, we would hire or use more old fashioned props and make the setting and costume more realistic for the time they would have been dating. ( getting rid of the TV for example). In addition to this, we have learnt that choosing music because it is a good song is not necessarily the best decision as it was not until we started editing that we realised how long the song was! Luckily we had taken plenty of shots and we were filming a story so it didn't mess it up too much however several people mentioned that the story got slightly lost midway through the video as it was just so long.
4) How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Throughout the creation of the preliminary task, we relied on a number of technologies. During the research process of the video, we used the Internet and websites such as Google maps to research setting as well as my tablet to organise dates, costume and casting actors. Moreover, we used the cameras and tripods for the filming of our video, and whilst editing we used the computers and software such as .... And ....

Final Plot ideas
In the end, we had to change our original idea of the abortion due to timing issues, we did not have enough time and had to edit fast. We therefore changed it to the idea of a journey through the life of a young couple growing old and the video is essentially a memory of the old couples time together when they were young. We decided to create a realistic environment, using a couple with natural chemistry and therefore needed all kinds of emotion. We will need anger, frustration, sadness, happiness, excitement and passion in order to reflect a realistic relationship. The older couple will then recreate this however doing more realistic tasks in relation to their age. Sitting down at the table or drinking tea etc.

Format/style of video
The format of our music video is a narrative which relates to the lyrics of the song. It is a story about a couple and it is also like a microcosm of couples worldwide. I find that narratives within music videos can add a deeper meaning to the song, allowing their audience to relate to the characters. It also shows the couple when they are older allowing for it to target all age groups.m
